Discover the art of dog training with techniques that are both dog friendly and easy to learn.   Understanding why your dog does the things he does, is the first step to having the family pet you want.  Empower yourself with the tools you need to train your dog to be a productive part of your family pack.  You can have a family pet that is confident,  stable,  and socialized as well as free of negative behavioral issues. 


Attention: This class is for handler training, no dogs at this class please.


In this workshop some of our focus subjects will include but not be limited to:

   • Marker training
   • Training techniques that shape the behavior you want
   • Dealing with negative behavior
   • Fulfilling your dogs need for a pack leader
   • Understanding pack structure and canine behavior
   • Integrate training into your busy lifestyle
   • Being a responsible dog owner
   • Basic care for your dog
   • The dangers of humanizing your dog
   • Training equipment, what works and what doesn’t
   • What is opposition reflex and how does it affect your dog and a leash

IMPORTANT INFORMATION PLEASE READ PRIOR TO ENROLLING IN ANY CLASSES!

Class enrollment fees are non-refundable for any reason once classes have started. On occasion classes are rescheduled but will be made up at the convenience of Poochy Smooches and the Sponsor. If you can not make it to the make up classes they can not be refunded or replaced for any reason. Classes can not be switched or substituted once they have begun, nor can dogs be substituted for any reason.

If you have a dog that bites, has bitten in the past or tries to bite or that you think could bite, please notify Stefanie Kitcher prior to registering for classes.  Your dog will need to be evaluated in order to ensure the safety of the other teams that are enrolled. Dogs that bite or show aggression to other humans or dogs may be excused without a refund.


ATTENTION: You will need to provide a copy of an updated vaccination record including Bordatella and a Rabies Certificate. (NO  EXCEPTIONS!)  Children 12 yrs and older will be accepted as  handlers unless other arrangements have been made in advance.  No other children, family members or dogs other than the registered dog & handler team may attend class (unless you are the parent of a minor)

Basic obedience and new students: Orientation & Handler training is held on the first night of each basic obedience course, this night is MANDATORY for this class.  Please do not bring dogs on the first night.
